Lowrider culture developed in Los Angeles in the 1950s and '60s. Latino youths took to customising their cars, lowering the wheelbase, painting them with ornate works of art and fetishising them as part of an emerging lifestyle. They were unique, sleek and designed to impress. They would cruise the streets and boulevards, parading
