and it has been enhanced sometime in the early 1900s (the upper and lower half of the bead has been spruced up with paint of some sorts)

Antique Afghanistan Amber Prayer Beads Bone Antique Silver neck torque from31" strand of old Afghan golden amber beads; mixed shapes and sizes from 7 9mm x 10mm up to approximately 14 16mm. Over 100 years old and made of copal amber and bakelite. The beads that make up this strand have come from old prayer necklaces collected from sources in Afghanistan. An amazing collection indeed!
