and has what looks like a small gold-painted piece that sticks out over the edge of his jacket
with light aging and handling wear
1/4 Purple Glass Ambrotype, Group of Three Men, Possibly from Virginia medica About 7" x 3Quarter plate, 1850s ambrotype of three men, in an earlier, full leather case. There is no identification or location anywhere on this image, but it was out of a Virginia estate, and several CDVs acquired with it had Richmond, Virginia photographer imprints. Ambrotype is nice overall, but has one of those "air pocket" occlusions in the middle of the image.. hopefully my pics show it well. The image glass is dark purple. Case is complete and intact
